This program gives you a set amount of money called a voucher to buy special equipment to help you use the telephone. The voucher amount will depend on your level of disability. The program can provide equipment such as:

  • Phones that let you increase the call volume
  • A loud bell ringer
  • A remote control speaker phone
  • A phone with a screen to read your conversation
  • A teletypewriter

A teletypewriter is a machine you connect to your telephone. It lets you type a message to an operator who will read it to the person you are calling.

You will have to pay $100 when you order your equipment, but you can get help paying the $100 if you apply for the Telecommunications Assistance Program.

How do I apply?

To apply for this program, use the online application or print and fill out a paper application. You can also call your local office.
