This program can help you get special equipment to use the phone if you are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have trouble speaking. Equipment may include:

  • A phone with a screen to read your conversation
  • Phones that let you increase the call volume
  • Flashing lights or sounds to show incoming calls
  • A teletypewriter 

A teletypewriter is a machine you connect to your telephone. It lets you type a message to an operator who will read it to the person you are calling.


How do I apply?

To apply for this program, you can print and fill out an application form or call 800-222-3448. If you are deaf or hard of hearing, you can call the relay service at 888-447-5620.
