MTA Reduced-Fare MetroCard Program

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) program lets you pay a reduced fare to travel on New York City’s public subways and buses. This discount is also available for travel on the Long Island Rail Road and bus, Staten Island Railway, and Metro-North Railroad. Some railways and buses do not accept Reduced-Fare MetroCard Program during weekday rush hours.

The Reduced-Fare MetroCard will have your name and picture on it. You can use it to buy unlimited rides or pay-per-ride.


How do I apply?

To apply for this program, please print and fill out the application form and send it back to the program. You can also get an application from any bus operator, token booth clerk, the Department for the Aging, MTA Service Center, MetroCard Bus or Van, or by calling the NYC Transit at: (718) 243-4999 or (212) MetroCard.
