Reduced Fares for Public Transportation
1 min read
Share

This program gives you a discount on public transportation fares if you are an older adult or, in some cases, have a disability. If you qualify for a Reduced Fare Permit, you can pay lower transportation fares on the Regional Transportation Authority (also called RTA) system to travel on fixed routes operated by the Chicago Transit Authority (also called CTA), Metra, and Pace.

The travel can take place in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties. You can use the permit to pay for travel, and value can be added at vending machines in CTA stations.

How do I apply?

To find out if the reduced fare is available in your area, please contact your local Area Agency on Aging.
