Property Tax Fairness Credit Program - Maine

1 min read

How can this program help me?

The Property Tax Fairness Credit program provides you a refund of some of the property tax or rent you've paid if you are a qualifying state resident. The amount of the refund you can receive depends on your age and the amount of property tax or rent you have paid. If the amount of the refund is more than you have to pay in income tax, the difference will be refunded to you.

How do I get help?

To apply for this program, print and fill out the application form and include it with your state income tax filing. If you do not have to file a state income tax form, you can still apply using the form. Please contact the Department of Revenue for more information on how to apply if you do not need to file a state income tax return.
