Create AccountHow can this program help me?
This program can reduce the amount of property tax you pay if you are a qualifying older adult. It puts a “freeze” on the assessed (taxable) value of the home you own and live in. The assessed value is the dollar amount used to decide how much you will have to pay in property taxes.
This means that if the value of the home increases, you will still pay taxes on the lower value as long as you continue to qualify for this benefit program. There are some exceptions, such as if you make major improvements to the home that increase the value.
