IL Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption (SCAFHE)

1 min read

How can this program help me?

The Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption program puts a “freeze” on the assessed (estimated) value of the home you own and live in if you are an older adult. The assessed value is the dollar amount used to decide how much you will have to pay in property taxes. This means that if the value of the home increases, you will still pay taxes on the lower value if you continue to qualify for the exemption.

How do I get help?
