How can this program help me?

This program could allow you to get a larger Homeowner Exemption (tax break) with no limit. The Cook County Assessor’s Office automatically finds which properties qualify based on home assessment (estimated value) increases. Your savings from the Longtime Occupant Homeowner Exemption would have to be higher than the savings from the standard Homeowner Exemption. More than 98% of homes in Cook County do not qualify for this exemption.

How do I apply?

To find out how to apply for the program, contact the Cook County Assessor.
