Hawaii Homeowner Exemption Program

How can this program help me?

The Hawaii Homeowner Exemption Program offers a property tax exemption (tax break) to help lower the amount of property tax you pay. The amount of exemption you get depends on factors like your age, your income, and the assessed (estimated) value of your home. The assessed value is the dollar amount used to decide how much you will have to pay in property taxes.

Not all counties offer the same benefit. Some counties offer separate property tax exemptions for people over age 60 or 70 and people with disabilities, blindness, deafness, or Hanson’s disease.

How do I get help?
