Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
If you have limited income, this program can provide you with a federal income tax credit. This tax credit may help lower the amount of tax you owe or increase the amount of cash you get as a refund.
The tax credit you get depends on your income and if you are supporting any children in your household. For the 2021 tax year (the taxes you file in 2022), the tax credit ranges from $1,502 to $6,935.
Please note: Getting this tax credit does not impact other benefits you may be receiving, such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, Medicaid, or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). And in most cases, it does not hurt your ability to apply for other cash assistance programs.
How do I apply?
To find out how to apply for this program, please contact your local IRS office.
