The Rhode Island Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Elderly (RIPAE) program helps you pay for your prescription drugs. Based on your income, you will pay 40%, 70% or 85% of the discounted RIPAE price for prescription drugs. RIPAE covers prescription drugs for certain disease conditions which include Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, diabetes (including insulin and syringes for insulin injections), heart problems, depression, anti-infectives, Parkinson’s Disease, high blood pressure, cancer, urinary incontinence, circulation issues, high cholesterol, asthma and chronic respiratory conditions, osteoporosis, glaucoma and prescription vitamins and mineral supplements for renal patients. RIPAE also offers limited help with the cost of injectable prescription drugs used to treat Multiple Sclerosis. You can purchase all other prescriptions drugs (except for those used to treat cosmetic conditions) at a 15% discount.
