The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States. You can call, text, or chat "988" if you are in a mental health crisis.

A trained counselor will talk with you about your crisis and help connect you to ongoing care. The help is confidential.

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline was formerly known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. You can still reach the lifeline by calling (800) 273-8255.
