Finding and keeping safe and affordable housing is a major concern for many older adults. Luckily, there are resources available to help.

Rental Assistance

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program provides financial help if you are unable to pay rent or utilities, or have fallen behind in payment for rent, utilities (electricity, water, etc.), home energy costs, and other housing expenses.

The rules and application process are based on where you live. You can find your local emergency rental assistance (ERA) program on this site.

Homeowner Assistance

If you are a homeowner and you are having trouble with your mortgage payment because of COVID-related issues, you may also be able to get some relief, such as by pausing your payments. For more detailed information about your options, visit this Consumer Financial Protection Bureau site
