The Driver Escort Program is designed to offer convenient and safe transportation options for older adults, particularly for non-emergency medical needs. This program utilizes taxis as a mode of transportation and is part of the public transit system. Riders are required to schedule their rides in advance, ensuring that their transportation needs are met reliably and efficiently. The program offers various payment options, including insurance, vouchers, donations, membership fees, and flat fees. For medical appointments, there is a 30-cent per mile co-pay, while non-medical rides are available at the current IRS mileage rate. Medicaid payments are also accepted. The program is inclusive of individuals with packages or bags, and service animals are welcome on board. Riders have the flexibility to choose between scheduling rides in advance or opting for on-demand services. Door-to-door transportation is provided, with drivers waiting for passengers during appointments or errands.
