The Volunteer Driver Program is an hourly non-emergency medical transportation service available to older adults. This program arranges transportation through taxis and offers public transit options for riders. Riders must schedule their trips at least one day in advance and can pay using insurance, vouchers, donations, or credit card. There are options for pre-payment and co-payments are based on mileage for Medicaid payments.
The program provides private rides, paratransit services, and allows for on-demand scheduling. Riders can expect assistance with packages or bags, and service animals are permitted on trips. Door-to-door and curb-to-curb transportation is available, with the option for drivers to wait while riders run errands or attend appointments. Additionally, the program offers shared rides, transportation via cars, vans, buses, and trains, following fixed routes or custom itineraries. Fees may include flat rates, membership costs, and charges per mile, catering to a variety of transportation needs for older adults.
