Learn More About This Program

Please make sure to contact Island Senior Resources: Medical Transportation to confirm details of their transportation services.

Provides rides for only the following purposes: medical appointments. Also, you must meet at least one of these criteria: you are 60+ years old, or you have a disability. No membership is required.

The Medical Transportation program offers a convenient and flexible transportation solution for older adults needing to travel to medical appointments, therapy sessions, or other healthcare-related destinations. The program's pricing structure is transparent, with a $15 pick-up fee for each part of the journey in addition to a charge of $0.93 per mile, calculated based on the anticipated distance between the pick-up and drop-off locations. For longer trips lasting three hours or more, an extra $10 meal allowance for the driver is included in the cost. To make this service accessible to a wide range of older adults, the program offers discounted rates ranging from 20% to 100%, depending on individual needs and circumstances. It is important to note that rides must be scheduled in advance, ideally a few days prior to the appointment, allowing for efficient planning and coordination. Payment for the transportation services can be made by check or in cash, catering to different preferences. Riders can rely on the Medical Transportation program for curb-to-curb service, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey to and from their healthcare appointments. By considering the option of scheduling rides in advance, older adults can benefit from the reliability and support provided by this transportation program.
