Provides rides for only the following purposes: necessary errands, medical appointments, or grocery shopping. Also, you must meet at least one of these criteria: you are 60+ years old. No membership is required.
The Volunteer Transportation program provides non-emergency medical transportation services to older adults using taxis as the mode of transportation. This public transit program allows riders to schedule rides at least one day in advance and accepts various forms of payment including insurance, vouchers, donations, and even Medicaid payments. There is a membership fee and flat fee associated with this program, although some pricing details indicate it may also be free of charge.
Additionally, Volunteer Transportation offers paratransit services, assisting riders with packages and bags, while providing private, door-to-door transportation using cars and vans. The program gives older adults the flexibility to book rides on-demand, including shared rides, and accepts different payment methods like checks, credit cards, and cash. Riders can also pre-pay or choose to pay by the mile for their transportation needs, ensuring a convenient and accessible way to travel for appointments, errands, or other commitments.
