This program offers safe and reliable transportation via taxi for individuals who may struggle with traditional public transit options. Riders have the option to schedule rides in advance, ensuring timely and efficient travel to their desired destinations.
Participants in the Paratransit Program can benefit from affordable pricing options based on distance traveled, with services offered within the City of Alexandria at no charge. For trips up to 5 miles outside of the city, a small fee of $4 each way applies, while longer distances and journeys to and from Washington, DC incur a fee of $6 each way.
In addition to accepting insurance payments and vouchers, this program also welcomes donations and offers membership options for regular users. Riders can enjoy the convenience of paying with various methods such as credit cards, cash, or checks. With door-to-door transportation and accommodations for service animals, the Paratransit Program prioritizes the comfort and accessibility of older adults, providing a vital link to essential medical appointments, errands, and social engagements.
