Aging In Place

Maryland Transit Administration (MTA)

The Maryland Transit Administration (also called MTA) runs bus services in Baltimore as well as rail and light rail in the Baltimore-Washington area. Older adults who are 65 years of age or older and people who have disabilities can pay reduced fares on the bus and transit systems.

Fares for both services are nearly half of the standard fare. For people who cannot use the fixed-route services—such as CityLink, LocalLink, Metro SubwayLink, or Light RailLink—a curb-to-curb service called MobilityLink is also available.

How do I apply?

To pay a reduced fare, you will need a valid ID that shows you are 65 years of age or older or that you have a disability. For more information, you can contact your local office.

For more information about how to apply for MobilityLink, contact your local office or download the application form or program information.
