The Rural Public Transportation program provides non-emergency medical transportation services for older adults who require transportation via taxi. Riders are required to schedule their rides at least one day in advance and have the option to pay for the service through insurance, vouchers, donations, or a membership fee. The program also offers private rides and accepts Medicaid payments. With a pricing structure of $1 per one-way trip with an additional $1 fee for making a stop, and $2.50 to $6 for out-of-county trips, this paratransit program ensures that older adults can access transportation affordably. Riders can also receive assistance with packages or bags and benefit from door-to-door transportation services. Moreover, older adults utilizing this program can expect flexible payment options, including cash, check, credit card, or pre-payment. The program allows for on-demand scheduling, shared rides, and features drivers who are willing to wait for passengers during errands or appointments. Additionally, the program supports riders who have service animals, offering a convenient and inclusive transportation solution for older adults in rural areas.
