Provides rides for any purpose, to all people, and no membership is required.
The Public Transit program offers affordable transportation services for older adults within the county and beyond. Riders can access this service by paying a flat fee for their trips, with in-county rides costing $3.00 each way. For trips crossing county lines, an additional $3.00 is charged. Additional stops can be added for $1.00 each, as long as they are kept within a 15-minute timeframe.
One of the benefits of this program is the option to schedule rides in advance to ensure availability. Additionally, riders can request on-demand transportation services and enjoy shared rides with other passengers. The program utilizes vans to transport passengers along fixed routes, providing curb-to-curb service for added convenience.
Families with young children can benefit from this program as well, with children under 6 riding for half-fare. Furthermore, riders are allowed to bring a service animal along for the journey. Payment for the services is accepted in cash, and each rider can have one escort accompanying them free of charge. Overall, the Public Transit program aims to provide older adults with a reliable and cost-effective transportation option to help them maintain their independence and stay connected with their community.
