If you own a home in New York City and have a permanent disability, the Disabled Homeowners’ Exemption Program (DHE) may help you save money on your property taxes. The DHE Program lowers the amount of your home’s value that is taxed, which can help reduce your property tax bill.
What is the New York Disabled Homeowners’ Exemption Program?
The New York Disabled Homeowners’ Exemption Program is a program that helps lower property taxes for people with disabilities who own and live in their homes. If you qualify, the city reduces the assessed value of your home, which means you may pay less in property taxes each year. This program is designed to make it easier for people with disabilities to afford staying in their homes.
