Tax Help

MA Residential Exemption for Property Taxes Program

Learn More About This Program

How can this program help me?

This program may lower the amount of property tax you pay on the home you own and live in. The residential exemption (tax break) excludes part of your home’s assessed (estimated) value. The assessed value is the dollar amount used to decide how much you will have to pay in property taxes. This benefit is offered by the City of Boston in addition to the help you can get from other tax breaks available in the city and state.

How do I apply?

To find out how to apply for this program, visit the program website or contact the Taxpayer Referral and Assistance Center.
