The Companionship/Homemaking Services program offers hourly non-emergency medical transportation services for older adults, providing convenient and reliable transportation via taxis or public transit. Riders are required to schedule their rides at least one day in advance and can pay with insurance, vouchers, donations, or a membership fee. The program provides private rides using cars and accepts Medicaid payments, ensuring accessibility for diverse payment options. With a pricing structure of a minimum of 2 hours of service at $18-$21 per hour based on the required services, the program is a paratransit option that also assists with carrying packages or bags. Riders can book rides a few days in advance and pay by check, pre-payment, credit card, or cash. Additionally, the program offers on-demand scheduling, shared rides, transportation via vans following fixed routes, and charges riders by the mile. It provides door-to-door, curb-to-curb transportation, allowing passengers to bring service animals along and even offers waiting services for errands or appointments, enhancing the overall convenience and comfort for older adults using the service.
