The Transportation/Escort Service program is a non-emergency medical transportation service available for older adults. This program provides transportation primarily through taxis and occasionally via private cars, vans, buses, or trains. Riders can schedule rides in advance, typically requiring at least one day's notice, although some services may need a few days to a week's notice. The program offers door-to-door transportation, ensuring the older adults are safely picked up and dropped off at their destinations. The service also includes options for shared rides or private rides, giving flexibility in preferences. To use this transportation service, riders can pay using various methods such as insurance, Medicaid, vouchers, coupons, donations, cash, credit cards, or checks. The pricing details usually consist of a base rate per mile traveled plus a service fee each way. Additionally, passengers can benefit from the option to have the driver wait for them during appointments or errands. Service animals are typically allowed to accompany the older adults during their rides. This program aims to provide reliable and convenient transportation options for older adults, ensuring they can travel to medical appointments, social engagements, or other essential destinations with ease.
