The Public Transportation program offers a convenient way for older adults to travel around the area using public transit services. With fixed pricing based on different zones, riders can choose the most cost-effective option depending on their destination. For instance, traveling within a 4-mile radius from the public square falls under Zone 1, with a set fare of $1.00, while traveling to locations within a 20-mile radius falls under Zone 4, with a flat fee of $7.50.
To utilize this program, older adults are required to book their rides in advance, providing them with the opportunity to plan their trips accordingly. Payments for the services can be made using checks or cash, offering flexibility to the riders. Additionally, shared van rides are available as part of the program, allowing older adults to travel with others in their community. This service ensures curb-to-curb transportation, prioritizing the safety and comfort of older adults as they commute to their desired locations.
