The Transportation/Faith on Wheels program is a non-emergency medical transportation service that offers convenient and flexible rides for older adults who reside within specific parish boundaries. This program provides various transportation options, including private car rides, taxi services, bus or train transportation, and van services. Riders can schedule their trips in advance, with options for on-demand scheduling available as well.
Individuals utilizing this program have the choice to pay for their rides using insurance, vouchers, coupons, credit cards, checks, and cash. For those living within the designated parish boundaries, the program is available free of charge on specific days of the week. In addition to standard transportation services, this program also offers paratransit options, ensuring that older adults with mobility challenges can access the transportation they need.
Riders can count on courteous drivers who are willing to assist with packages or bags and accommodate service animals during the journey. Whether it's for medical appointments, errands, or social outings, Transportation/Faith on Wheels aims to provide a safe and reliable transportation solution for older adults, offering door-to-door and curb-to-curb services as well as drivers who are willing to wait for passengers as needed.
