Johnston County Area Transit System (JCATS): Human Services Transportation

Learn More About This Program

Please make sure to contact Johnston County Area Transit System (JCATS): Human Services Transportation to confirm details of their transportation services.

The Human Services Transportation program offers a public transit service for older adults, providing transportation via bus or train. Although the service is typically free, some agencies may choose to charge a flat fee to help cover costs. In-county rides cost $5.00 per trip, while out-of-county rides are priced at $15.00 per ride. Riders are required to schedule their trips in advance, usually a few days beforehand. The program operates on a shared ride basis, allowing multiple passengers to be picked up and dropped off along similar routes. When requesting transportation through the Human Services Transportation program, individuals should keep in mind that each ride is scheduled based on availability. To secure a ride, passengers must contact the program by 12 noon on the business day prior to the scheduled transportation date. This service provides curb-to-curb transportation, ensuring that older adults can safely and comfortably reach their destinations within the community.
