Public Transportation is a convenient program designed to provide older adults with non-emergency medical transportation services via taxi, bus, or train. Riders have the flexibility to schedule rides in advance, with options for on-demand scheduling as well. The program offers various payment methods, including insurance, vouchers, donations, credit cards, checks, or cash. Prices for rides range from $4 to $8, depending on the distance traveled, offering affordable transportation options to older adults.
Participants in the Public Transportation program can benefit from additional services such as assistance with packages, door-to-door transportation, and the option to travel with service animals. The program also offers paratransit services, ensuring that older adults with disabilities have access to accessible and supportive transportation. With a focus on meeting the diverse needs of older adults, this program aims to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for daily errands, medical appointments, and social outings.
Service Area
KARTS serves Franklin, Granville, Vance and Warren Counties. We also transport passengers to major medical facilities in Wake Forest, Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill Monday through Friday.
