Volunteer Transportation is a fantastic program designed to offer older adults convenient and reliable transportation services. Through this program, older adults can benefit from rides provided by generous volunteers who use their cars to help others in the community. The program operates on a donation-based model, where riders have the option to contribute to the costs, although the service is entirely free of charge for older adults. To access transportation through Volunteer Transportation, older adults are encouraged to schedule their rides with a lead time of a few days. This advance scheduling ensures that there is ample time to arrange for a volunteer driver to be available for the journey. When planning their transportation needs, older adults can rely on the Rides In Advance program, which facilitates the scheduling process and helps match riders with available drivers in their area. Overall, Volunteer Transportation is a valuable resource for older adults who may face challenges with mobility or require assistance getting to appointments, running errands, or attending social activities. By utilizing this program, older adults can enhance their independence and stay connected with their community, knowing they have a safe and supportive transportation option available to them.
