Volunteer Transportation is a beneficial program for older adults seeking non-emergency medical transportation services. This program arranges transportation through taxis and public transit, assisting older adults in reaching their medical appointments on time. Riders are required to schedule their rides in advance, usually at least one day beforehand. Payment options for this program include insurance, vouchers, donations, and Medicaid. While there is a membership fee, the pricing details are flexible, with the program being available for free while encouraging donations. The program also provides private rides, allowing older adults to travel comfortably. It also accommodates riders with service animals and assists with carrying packages or bags. Overall, Volunteer Transportation aims to support older adults in accessing essential medical services in a reliable and efficient manner.
