The Kennebec Explorer is a transportation program that provides affordable and accessible travel options for older adults. This program offers transportation via car and van, following fixed routes throughout the area. With pricing details that include $1.25 for local travel within one community, $1.50 for local travel between two towns, and $3.50 for intercity travel between Waterville and Augusta, the Kennebec Explorer aims to make getting around easy and affordable. Riders of the Kennebec Explorer can also opt for monthly bus passes, priced at $40 for local travel and $80 for intercity travel, providing flexibility and convenience for regular travelers. This program accepts donations and payments by check, as well as pre-payments for added convenience. Additionally, the Kennebec Explorer operates on a fixed schedule, allowing older adults to plan their trips ahead of time. Service animals are welcome on board, ensuring that all older adults can access and enjoy the transportation services provided by the Kennebec Explorer.
