Please make sure to contact Maryland Transit Administration (MTA): Call-A-Ride Service (C.A.R.) to confirm details of their transportation services.
Provides rides for any purpose, as long as you meet one of the following criteria: you have a disability.
The Call-A-Ride Service (C.A.R.) program offers convenient transportation for older adults through taxi services. To utilize this program, riders are required to pay a fixed fee of $3.00 for each trip, while the MTA subsidizes up to $40.00 for each ride. If the total fare exceeds $40.00, the rider is responsible for covering the remaining cost. For example, if the fare is $45.00, the rider would pay $3.00 for the C.A.R. fee and $5.00 for the amount exceeding the subsidy, totaling $8.00 for the trip.
In addition to individual trips, the program also provides shared ride options to optimize efficiency and reduce costs for participants. Riders must schedule their transportation needs in advance with a notice of a few days. Payments for the service can be made in cash or by check, offering flexibility for older adults who may prefer different payment methods. By utilizing the Call-A-Ride Service program, older adults can enjoy reliable transportation assistance while maintaining their independence and mobility.
