The Public Transit program is a non-emergency medical transportation service available to older adults. This program offers convenient transportation through taxi services, allowing riders to schedule rides in advance to accommodate their needs. Accepted payment methods include insurance, vouchers, donations, and Medicaid payments. The pricing structure for this program is as follows: $4 for local in-town trips, $7 for out-of-town trips within the parish, and $25 for trips outside the parish.
In addition to individual rides, Public Transit also offers paratransit services, providing assistance with packages or bags and ensuring accessibility for those with service animals. Riders can choose between private or shared rides, with options for door-to-door or curb-to-curb transportation. With the flexibility of on-demand scheduling and payment options including cash, credit cards, checks, and pre-payment, this program aims to make transportation easy and accessible for older adults in the community.
