The Non-Emergency Medical Transportation program offers a specialized transportation service for older adults who require transportation to non-emergency medical appointments. This program provides private rides with pricing based on the type of trip and distance traveled. For ambulatory trips, the base rate is $23.00 per leg, with the first 5 miles included. Additional miles are charged at $1.65 per mile. Dead head ambulatory trips that start 20 miles or more from the base are charged at a rate of $0.75 per mile. For wheelchair trips, the mileage rate is $1.85 per mile. To utilize this program, older adults need to schedule their rides a few days in advance. Payment options include insurance, Medicaid, check, credit card, or cash. Shared rides are also available to make transportation more cost-effective. The transportation is provided via vans, offering door-to-door service to ensure older adults reach their appointments safely and comfortably.
