The Rural Public Transit program offers transportation services to older adults living in rural areas. Riders can schedule shared van or bus rides at an affordable rate of $.80 per mile with a $3 minimum charge. It is important to note that one-way trips and same-day services may incur additional fees. To utilize this program, riders are required to book their trips in advance, typically a few days beforehand, and have the option to pay in cash or by check.
Riders can expect curb-to-curb transportation within their local area, providing a convenient and accessible way to travel to appointments, run errands, or visit friends and family. Additionally, service animals are permitted on board to accommodate those with specific mobility needs or disabilities. Overall, the Rural Public Transit program aims to support older adults in rural communities by offering a reliable and cost-effective transportation option for their daily needs.
