The Public Transportation - On Demand program provides convenient transportation services for older adults who require non-emergency medical transportation or assistance with daily travel needs. This program offers on-demand scheduling for rides via taxi, ensuring flexibility and ease of access. Riders have the option to schedule their trips at least one day in advance, allowing for efficient planning of transportation needs.
Membership in the program involves paying a flat fee, with additional costs determined by the distance traveled. In-county trips are priced at $5 for the first five miles per round trip, and $10 for six miles or more per round trip. For out-of-county transportation, the cost is $0.80 per mile per round trip. Payments can be made through insurance, vouchers, coupons, donations, or Medicaid, providing a variety of options to suit different financial situations.
The program also offers paratransit services, assisting riders with packages or bags, and ensuring accessibility for individuals with service animals. Additionally, the program provides door-to-door or curb-to-curb transportation, utilizing cars, vans, buses, or trains to accommodate various travel needs. Whether older adults need assistance with medical appointments, grocery shopping, or social outings, the Public Transportation - On Demand program aims to provide a reliable and inclusive transportation solution.
