The Public Transportation program is a comprehensive transportation service tailored for individuals who require non-emergency medical transportation or general mobility assistance. This program offers a variety of convenient options, including transportation via taxi, private car, bus, or train, ensuring older adults have access to a range of transportation modes. Riders can schedule rides in advance, with options for on-demand scheduling available as well. The program offers flexible payment methods, including insurance, vouchers, donations, credit card, cash, and Medicaid payments for eligible individuals. Pricing details include a $1.75 per mile rate with a $5 minimum charge, with Medicaid-eligible transportation being provided at no cost. Additionally, riders may encounter membership fees or flat fees depending on the service utilized. Notably, the Public Transportation program prioritizes accessibility by offering paratransit services, accommodating individuals with packages or bags, allowing service animals on board, and providing door-to-door or curb-to-curb transportation services. Whether one needs assistance with medical appointments, errands, or social outings, this program strives to meet the diverse transportation needs of older adults in the community.
