Skokie Senior Transit for Area Residents (STAR) is a transportation program designed to assist older adults in accessing paratransit services. Membership in this program requires a monthly fee of $15.00, with potential discounts available for multiple-month renewals. Riders are encouraged to schedule their rides a few days in advance to ensure availability. Payment options include check, credit card, and cash, with pre-payment accepted for convenience. STAR offers shared rides to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness for its members. The program prioritizes curb-to-curb transportation, providing a seamless experience for older adults to reach their destinations safely and comfortably. Additionally, riders are welcome to be accompanied by their service animals, promoting inclusivity and accessibility for all passengers.
