The Rural Transportation Service is a public transit program designed to provide convenient transportation options for older adults residing in Montpelier and Bear Lake County. This program offers one-way rides at affordable rates based on the distance traveled. For rides within an eight-mile radius of Montpelier, the fare is $2.00, while rides outside this radius but within Bear Lake County cost $8.00 for older adults aged 60 and above. For trips that extend beyond Bear Lake County, a fare of $4.00 plus $1.00 per mile will be charged, and individuals can obtain further information on this service by contacting PRT. The program operates using buses or trains and requires riders to book their transportation in advance, ensuring that their travel needs are met. Payments are accepted in cash, and the transportation service offers curb-to-curb assistance, catering to the mobility requirements of older adults in the area.
