The Rural Transportation Service is a public transit program that offers transportation services to older adults and other community members in the Montpelier area. Riders can enjoy one-way rides within an eight-mile radius from Montpelier for a flat fee of $2.00, which is a suggested donation for individuals aged 60 and older. For destinations outside of this radius but still within Bear Lake County, the fare is $8.00 for older adults.
For trips that extend beyond Bear Lake County, riders can avail of individual trips for $4.00 plus $1.00 per mile fare. Those interested in this service can reach out to the Rural Transportation Service for more information on this option. The program offers transportation via bus or train and requests riders to schedule their trips in advance, typically a few days ahead. Payments can be made in cash, and the program provides curb-to-curb transportation for riders' convenience.
