The Rural Transportation Service is a public transit program that offers transportation services to older adults and other community members in the Montpelier area. Riders can enjoy one-way rides within an eight-mile radius from Montpelier for a flat fee of $2.00, which is a suggested donation for individuals aged 60 and older. For destinations outside of this radius but still within Bear Lake County, the fare is $8.00 for older adults. For trips that extend beyond Bear Lake County, riders can avail of individual trips for $4.00 plus $1.00 per mile fare. The program offers transportation via bus or train and requests riders to schedule their trips in advance, typically a few days ahead. Payments can be made in cash, and the program provides curb-to-curb transportation for riders' convenience.
