Provides rides for any purpose, to all people, and no membership is required.

The Rural Transportation Service is a public transit program that offers convenient transportation for older adults in and around Montpelier. This program provides one-way rides at affordable flat rates for older adults, making it accessible and cost-effective. For rides within an eight-mile radius from Montpelier, the general fare and suggested donation for individuals aged 60 and older is $2.00. If the ride is outside of this radius but still within Bear Lake County, the fare is $8.00 for older adults. For trips that extend beyond Bear Lake County, the program offers individual trips at a rate of $4.00 plus $1.00 per mile. This flexible pricing structure allows older adults to access transportation services even if they need to travel outside the immediate area. The Rural Transportation Service uses buses or trains for transportation, ensuring comfortable and reliable rides for older adults. To utilize this program, older adults must schedule their rides in advance, typically a few days beforehand. This advance scheduling helps in planning and organizing transportation efficiently. Payment for the program is accepted in cash, providing a straightforward payment option for older adults. Additionally, the Rural Transportation Service offers curb-to-curb transportation, prioritizing the safety and convenience of older adults during their journeys.
