What Are Catholic Community Services of Western Washington’s Volunteer Services?
Volunteer Services managed by Catholic Community Services of Western Washington are designed to support older adults and people with disabilities in Washington state so they can continue living at home and stay connected to their community. The volunteer services offered are different in each county. To see what services are available in your area, you can visit the CCSWW website.
All volunteer services are free and can include:
- Housework
- Laundry
- Shopping and errands
- Transportation
- Minor home repairs
- Cooking
- Moving assistance
In addition to this in-home help, some programs also offer in-home counseling, emergency support (such as eviction or utility shut-off prevention), nutrition education, transportation services, and home-delivered meals.
Am I Eligible for Volunteer Services?
To qualify for Volunteer Services, you must be age 60 or older or an adult with a disability, live in Washington state, have limited income, and not qualify for other forms of assistance. If you meet the requirements, the process usually looks like this:
- Screening: A staff member talks with you to learn about your needs.
- Home Visit: A program coordinator may visit to gather more details and explain the services offered.
- Volunteer Match: You’ll be paired with a volunteer who can provide the type of support you need. Wait times depend on location and request type.
- Follow-Up: Staff will check in after a match is made to make sure your needs are met and the arrangement is going smoothly.
