Paratransit is a convenient transportation program catering to individuals who require non-emergency medical transportation services. Operating as a public transit service, Paratransit offers rides via taxi and car, ensuring older adults can reach their medical appointments, run errands, or attend social engagements with ease. Riders have the flexibility to schedule their trips in advance, with the option to pay using insurance, vouchers, coupons, or Medicaid payments. The program features a tiered pricing structure to accommodate different groups: General Public pays $2.00 per trip for the first 5 miles and $1.00 for each additional mile, while seniors, veterans, Medicare and Medicaid recipients, along with children 16 and older, benefit from a discounted rate of $1.00 for the first 5 miles. Children aged 15 and under can ride for free. Moreover, Paratransit allows for various payment methods including credit cards, checks, cash, and pre-payment, enhancing convenience for riders. Paratransit provides additional services such as assisting riders with packages or bags, offering private rides, and allowing service animals on board. The program's commitment to accessibility is evident through features like door-to-door and curb-to-curb transportation, on-demand scheduling, and shared rides. With its inclusive and flexible approach, Paratransit aims to support older adults in maintaining their independence and staying connected to essential services within the community.
