The Non-Emergency Transportation program offers a convenient and reliable way for older adults to access non-emergency medical transportation services. This program utilizes taxis as a mode of transportation for riders and is considered a form of public transit. Riders are required to schedule their rides in advance, typically at least one day prior, ensuring a seamless transportation experience. Payment options include insurance, vouchers or coupons, donations, and even Medicaid payments.
Additionally, the program offers flexibility in payment methods by accepting checks, cash, credit card payments, and pre-payments. For added convenience, riders have the option to book on-demand rides, indicating a driver will be available to wait for the passenger during errands or appointments. The program also features shared rides, promoting a sense of community among participants. Furthermore, the transportation services range from private car rides to vans, all following fixed routes for efficient travel.
In terms of accessibility and inclusivity, the program ensures that service animals are permitted on rides, catering to the diverse needs of older adult passengers. Lastly, the program emphasizes personalized service by providing door-to-door or curb-to-curb transportation, ultimately prioritizing the comfort and safety of its riders.
