TRIPS, which stands for Tailored Residential Irvine Paratransit Service, is a transportation program designed to assist older adults in getting around Irvine conveniently and affordably. This program provides a flexible and personalized paratransit service for individuals who may require additional assistance or accommodations.
By paying a one-time registration fee of $25 and an annual fee of $20, older adults can access transportation to any location within Irvine for a flat fare of $1.90 per one-way trip. For destinations outside of Irvine, TRIPS offers limited service with costs ranging from $3.80 to $5.70, depending on the location and distance traveled.
To utilize this program, older adults are required to schedule their rides in advance, typically a few days ahead of their intended travel date. This advanced scheduling ensures that transportation needs are met promptly and efficiently. TRIPS operates on donations, making it a community-supported initiative that prioritizes the well-being and mobility of older adults in the Irvine area.
