The Volunteer Transportation program is a non-emergency medical transportation service available to older adults. This program offers convenient transportation options via taxi, car, bus, train, or van for medical appointments, errands, or social outings. Riders can schedule rides in advance, and the program provides door-to-door or curb-to-curb transportation, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey. One of the key features of this program is its flexibility in payment options. Riders can pay using insurance, Medicaid, vouchers, coupons, cash, credit cards, checks, or through donations. The program also offers a membership option or charges a flat fee or per mile, depending on the type of service availed. For those who require additional assistance, the program permits service animals on board and can accommodate riders with packages or bags. Moreover, Volunteer Transportation provides shared rides and paratransit services to cater to the specific needs of older adults with disabilities or mobility limitations. With on-demand scheduling available and the option for drivers to wait during appointments or errands, this program ensures a reliable and supportive transportation experience for older adults in the community.
