The Volunteer Neighbor Services program offers a unique transportation benefit for older adults in the Verde Valley and Sedona area. Through this program, older adults can access transportation via car at no cost. While the service itself is free, participants are encouraged to make a voluntary contribution towards the cost of each trip, which typically amounts to $20 for destinations within the local area and $120 or more for trips outside the designated area. One of the key features of this program is the assistance provided to riders with packages or bags, making it easier for older adults to run errands or attend appointments without worrying about carrying their belongings. To utilize this service, older adults are required to schedule their rides at least a few days in advance, ensuring that there is ample time to arrange for a driver. In addition to providing transportation, Volunteer Neighbor Services also offers the convenience of having a driver wait for the passenger while they complete their errands or appointments. This added flexibility is particularly beneficial for older adults who may need extra time or assistance during their outings. Overall, this program is a valuable resource for older adults seeking reliable and supportive transportation services in the Verde Valley and Sedona area.
