Volunteer Neighbor Services is a comprehensive transportation program designed to assist older adults in accessing non-emergency medical transportation. The program offers a variety of transportation options, including taxi services, public transit, and private car rides, ensuring flexibility based on individual needs. Riders are required to schedule their rides in advance, with the program accommodating requests made at least a day or a few days in advance. A unique feature of Volunteer Neighbor Services is its affordability and payment options. While there are hourly rates or flat fees involved, the program also accepts insurance, vouchers, donations, and Medicaid payments. Additionally, riders have the opportunity to make voluntary contributions to help cover the cost of transportation services, making it a community-oriented and financially accessible program. In addition to providing door-to-door, curb-to-curb, and shared ride services, Volunteer Neighbor Services ensures rider convenience by offering on-demand scheduling and the option for drivers to wait for passengers during errands or appointments. The program's commitment to inclusivity is evident in its allowance for service animals during transportation, creating a safe and comfortable travel experience for older adults utilizing the service.
