Public Transportation is a comprehensive program designed to provide efficient and accessible transportation options for older adults, individuals with disabilities, and those on Medicare. This non-emergency medical transportation program offers a variety of services, including rides in taxis, private cars, vans, buses, and trains.
Riders can schedule their transportation at least a day in advance, with the option to choose from fixed routes or on-demand scheduling for more flexibility. Pricing is affordable, with regular fares set at $0.50 per ride, and reduced fares of $0.25 for individuals over the age of 60, those with disabilities, and Medicare beneficiaries. The program also accepts payments through insurance, vouchers, coupons, donations, checks, credit cards, Medicaid, and cash.
One of the highlights of this program is its emphasis on passenger comfort and convenience, offering door-to-door and curb-to-curb transportation services. Additionally, riders can bring service animals on board, and drivers are willing to wait for passengers during appointments or errands. Overall, Public Transportation strives to ensure that older adults have reliable and cost-effective means of getting to their destinations safely.
