Learn More About This Program

Please make sure to contact Morgan County Area Transportation System: Rural Transit to confirm details of their transportation services.

Provides rides for any purpose, to all people, and no membership is required.

The Rural Transit program offers public transportation services in the urban areas of Decatur, Hartselle, and Trinity at a rate of $2 per one-way trip. For trips in rural areas, the program charges $2 for every 5 miles traveled, with no single trip exceeding $10 in cost. Trips outside of the NARCOG RTA service area within a 50-mile radius of the NARCOG office are billed at $1 per mile, limited to stays within the state of Alabama. To utilize the Rural Transit program, older adults need to schedule their rides in advance, preferably a few days beforehand, and have the option to pay by check or cash. Pre-payment is also accepted for added convenience. Riders can expect shared rides along fixed routes, with charges based on the distance traveled. The program ensures curb-to-curb transportation, prioritizing the safety and comfort of older adults as they commute to their destinations.
