Escorted Transportation Services is a flexible non-emergency medical transportation program designed to cater to the needs of older adults. Operating as a public transit service, this program utilizes taxis to provide safe and reliable transportation for older adults who may require assistance getting to medical appointments, running errands, or attending social engagements.
Riders have the convenience of scheduling their rides at least one day in advance to ensure timely service. The program offers various payment options, including insurance, vouchers, coupons, donations, and Medicaid payments. For a nominal membership fee or flat rate, older adults can access private rides using cars or vans, as well as bus or train services along fixed routes, with the option of on-demand scheduling for shared rides.
One key feature of Escorted Transportation Services is the provision of door-to-door or curb-to-curb transportation, with drivers available to assist older adults with packages or wait during appointments. Service animals are welcome onboard, and the program offers the flexibility of accepting pre-payment through credit cards, checks, or cash. Whether needing a ride at short notice or with advanced planning, this program prioritizes the convenience and independence of older adults in their transportation needs.
